London Nights: What To Do Come Winter

DATED: 08.12.15

It’s winter. And, in England, that inevitably means it is also cold and dark and wet. So what on Earth can you do of an evening in London town?

Well, we’ve come up with a few ideas below. Read on to find out more.

Go for a walk…

If ever there were an “ideal” way to see London, it’s by foot. Convenient as they may be, there is simply no way the tube, taxis, buses or boats can afford the same intimate exploration of the city. Only by foot can you see the secret corners, hidden alleys and stunning details the city boasts. If you want to really uncover and understand its character, you need to walk the cobbled streets and the gravel park paths, as well as pound Picadilly’s packed pavements and cross the footbridges over the Thames. A delightful city to see in the daylight, you’ll find London even more enchanting at night, with it’s great landmarks basked in a warm glow, and its cityscape reflected on the river. (Just remember: safety first!).

Take in the sights…

London is a city like no other, and for that reason it is one of the most beloved destinations in the world. The ancient walls, grand palaces and stunningly carved architecture, dotted with parks and gardens galore make for a wonderful view. As you walk through the different boroughs, you get a taste for the distinctly different flavours of the city. The sturdiness of the East End, the glamour of the West End, the regeneration of the Docklands, and the blur of life in the City’s fast lane. From the up-lit Buckingham Palace to the twinkling view from the Eye, there’s plenty to see come dark.

Uncover the history…

Rich in both culture and history, our capital city is a world of discovery, just waiting for you to explore. And while New York holds the title of the City That Never Sleeps, make no mistake about it: London can hold its own. Museums may not be 24/7, but there are galleries, shows, and walking tours,  as well as special attractions and events to enjoy. And why wouldn’t you want to uncover London’s history and culture at night? The crowds aren’t as crazy and the view is spectacular; plus, you even get a chance to test out and experience the London nightlife with its selection of proper British pubs – all with a history of their own.

Now, by the sounds of that, there’s plenty to do in London of a winter’s evening, wouldn’t you say? But what combines all those things in one great experience, for Londoners and visitors alike? Glad you asked!

Our Jack the Ripper Tour is just the ticket for anyone wanting to explore all that London has to offer this winter. You can learn more than ever before about the mystery of the Ripper, hear tales of the city’s past, and see a side of its streets unknown to most.
